Well, I know that there are some fandoms that encourage essay-writing on characters and meta-topics, but I somehow doubt that CSI: Miami's one of them. But hey, I figure I spend so much time in the guy's headspace, I should at least know where I'm going. :)

1)I wanted to stick to canon as much as I could, I really did. That was part of the fun of it for me - taking all the details and all the bits of characterization and making them into a full, complete story. But...but I'm just starting to object to canon so much. I feel much the same way you do (at least judging from your episode reviews) - like the writers aren't paying attention to their character anymore.

Still, no matter how much better I like my version, it just seems...arrogant of me to determine that my version actually is better. After all, I'm not the one getting paid.

But what the hell, it's fanfic. And I'm entirely overusing the italics here.

is better.

I wouldn't call it arrogance, really, unless you specifically preface it with an author's note saying that you think it's better instead of waiting for other people to say so. If you present it saying that this is how you imagined the character before canon came along with details, and decided to keep pursuing it that way, I think people will be happy to go with it. I mean, lieueitak has her own version of Kyle's mother floating around already, so there's even a precedent.

If not, maybe you could write a little standalone featuring your Julia. Then even if people didn't like it, at least it wouldn't affect the rest of Little Brothers. I will stop giving you writing suggestions now. Although the strikethrough may nullify that promise.

LJ is being stupid and will not let me delete the above comment. I will leave that up to you and repost here.
