Coyote Blue

According to Christopher Moore, when everything is going right in your life and you're totally stressed out because you're afraid you might lose it, that means you're Coyote Blue. That seems to be my state these days. I've got a beautiful, healthy, happy, alert baby, and I'm constantly paranoid that something is going to go wrong. It's as if I' ( Read more... )

To a certain extent, this is just what it's like being a parent. Especially when your child is an infant-so small, so vulnerable, so amazingly dependent! But, I check on my 4 foot tall almost 6 year old while he is sleeping: put my hand on his chest,or lean down to his mouth to make sure he is breathing; feel his forehead when I know he's fine and doesn't have a fever.
I hope your worry and stress isn't too bad-taking care of your son requires you to take care of yourself.

I had nightmares for months about horrible things happening to the baby because I wasn't paying attention.

I'm finally a little less paranoid after a year and a half +, but I do still check to make sure he's breathing in the middle of the night. I expect I'll do that until he's 18 or so.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with fears that one moment of lapsed attention will bring disaster. Hopefully as time goes on and he continues to not fall apart every time I glance away, the nightmares will taper off.

By the way, that's a very cute icon. The baby-poop yellow background is a nice touch.
