I was babysitting Samantha yesterday (she's 5), and I discovered something interesting about kids stories these days. We read a book together, and watched a movie plus a preview for another movie. That's been a recurring theme in the last couple of Charles DeLint novels that I've read. People gain their values when they are 'storied'. Rings true on a lot of levels...

I was raised in a Catholic family, but I learned all my morals from Dr. Seuss. The stories about the Lorax, Star-Bellied Sneeches and Horton Hears a Who made a big impression on me.
