You need to send off those words by having a cookie and / or glass of wine for each word lost and a minutes silence. Tell the family that you're doing it for the sake of literature and to leave buckets in strategic places around the house.

Oh, it has been a DREADFUL week for writing, but that's because I had 4000 words of dreck stopping up the whole works. One day I will write a wacky Hummelberry In New York slapstick fic, but it didn't have any place in this current story.

(LOL, I have those same tingles about his chest. I MEAN, ABOUT HIS TALENT. Which is his chest. It's very talented.)
