First Day [open]

May 19, 2008 14:47

While it's certainly true that Helena wanted to be able to attend a normal school like a normal girl, she did not expect to be starting at the very end of her first year.  Granted, she is going to be auditing her classes for next year, but it's still a little strange to her.  This is the first time she's ever attended a school and she's not quite ( Read more... )

Well, if Ben counts as something, he happens to pretty much everyone sooner or later-- and he happens to Helena right about now, by way of wandering around a corner in a very distracted manner and almost walking right into "-- oh hey, sorry." :D?

Oh, look! A person! A person that almost runs into her, but oh well. "Um, hi. And it's okay," she says in response to his apology. "I'm Helena." Might as well introduce herself to everyone she meets; she is new, after all.

"Hi, I'm Ben." He visibly un-distracts himself, more or less, and shoves his hands absently in his pockets. "Nice to meet you-- uh, this your first day?" Since she looks a little lost.

It just figures that it's easy to tell it's her first day. True, she does look kinda lost, but that's through no fault of her own; she's never attended a school before!

"Yeah; my family just moved here," she says, offering no more information than that. She was worried enough about her mother, but she tries not to think about her away from home.

OH LOOK IT'S TIME FOR LUNCH. Who is eating on campus today? Ghamina Atreides, that's who. Leto is ...somewhere, being awesome, thus she is left to her own devices and is chilling at a table near once of the entrances, half eating an orange by section and half watching the doors, observing the general comings and goings, because those are fascinating.

Well, for the most part, her first day has gone well, but Helena has been dreading lunch. From what she'd seen and heard as they were on the road, one generally ate lunch with one's friends. Helena didn't have any friends, at the moment. So, she did the Linger Awkwardly In The Doorway thing again (seriously, Helena gets the Awkward Lingering Award for the day). Hopefully she'll get over her awkwardness soon! Really, though, give her something to juggle and she'll be fine!
