Annoyed and Stressed

Okay, I understand I probably should've asked her sooner, but I'm beginning to get really annoyed since I already sent her TWO emails asking for permission to use non-.edu sites on my HSM paper. I really want to use them, because one has the director specfically stating that they specifically chose "not to define" Ryan Evans's character, and how no ( Read more... )

I do hate it when things like that happen. One of my favorite teachers did something like that to me. :-\

I hope everything works out!

:( Yeah. I mean, the paper idea seemed like super fun to write (XD I mean, considering how much it's been discussed in our fandom, all the evidence that's been pointed out and everything...I half want to refer to the "I Don't Dance" scene--which I SO will be including to ridiculous detail--as the movie's "big gay baseball dance-off". XD), but it is a bit difficult to keep in mind that ( ... )

Well, if you're interested in my thoughts about all the gay in HSM...

1. Something I love about Ryan is yes, they make him pretty stereotypical (the clothes, the mannerisms, theater, dancing, yoga, the fact that he's a Mama's boy) though I'd argue that they do that do make the audience get it but they also break that stereotype by making him absolutely awesome at baseball. It completely fleshed out his character and made him so much more real, and he's really the only three dimensional character in the whole trilogy ( ... )

That's exactly my thought with Ryan! A lot of the sources I have found that talk about gay in High School Musical tend to bash Ryan for being so stereotypical, but I agree it's so the audience DOES get it. They make it just about as clear as they can without him making out with another boy and saying he is. And my arguement in my essay is going to be that the reason they DON'T let him say he is, is because Disney wanted to make sure that the poor gay children (and to educate the straight children as well) in ultra-conservative families could still have that role model and know being gay IS normal and okay, but also their homophobic parents would let them watch the movies. If Ryan was any more open, the homophobe parents would have boycotted the films ( ... )

Okay, that makes me feel much better! And that does make sense, if she gets upset about my use of a non-approved source, I just tell her that I did email her twice, and not suddenly the day before the paper was due, but the beginning of that week.

Yeah, that was my opinion of it too, and there doesn't seem to be too much recent pop culture or modern film and music on glbtq, but that site does have plenty...

I really hope so! XD And yes, I've spent a ridiculous amount of time (years...which is just sad) planning this paper (or at least, partially this paper), so I hope that she does like it. And I really can't put it on hold much longer...especially since I've got two that I need to. I mean, I've started the other, but I want to be able to get at least one out of the way and this one I think will come much easier since I know exactly what I'm writing about (the other one I'm still muddling through a bit).

:) Thanks for the advice/encouragement!

Hey Megan, I've been wondering how your sister is doing. I know she seems happy when she comments on your facebook, which she used to do a lot less frequently. Anyway, seeing the comments made me think to ask you if things are going better for her.
