I haven't ordered from them yet, but I've heard very good things about the quality of their products. I just wish they offered bulk discounts if you order more than 10 items or something.

I would also feel disloyal if I shopped anywhere else except http://www.sockdreams.com/_shop/edit/index.php, because they have really earned my loyalty. Check them both out and compare prices and inventory.

I ordered some mens tights from them as a test, and although the shipping was SLOWslowslow, the quality was good - for the price, the quality was excellent!
I will *definitely* be ordering from them again.

Now, I also love sockdreams - but the product selections are completely different. welovecolors is the place to go if you need tights or whatever in a color you didn't think existed :)

Just as a note for plus-size shoppers:

We Love Colors has recently added nylon tights to their plus size offerings instead of the weird ones they've had in the past. This means the fit and texture are about nine thousand times better.

However, they are still freaking nine miles long. And slightly tight in the thighs - if you are running between sizes, size up and trim off the excess length at the foot end of things (you can use a serger or regular sewing machine to "hem" your tights).

Alternately, Just My Size sells a linen color of their silky tights that takes dye BRILLIANTLY.

And I second the amazing stuff that is Sock Dreams. Though I've yet to find a pair of tights that fit from there.

quantumcat2 here (the gremlins don't like my OpenID).

I can't find red/purple jester's tights.

Based on the hints given here, could I dye one pair of linen tights red,one purple, divide them and put one side of each color together?

(Or maybe I should just try tie-dye.)

Do any of you know how medical stockings respond to dye?

The white stockings with holes in the foot and their ilk can seem too "therapeutic" to suit the more restive people who have them prescribed.

The tight grip is necessary and can't be helped but a bit of color or pattern could make it easier to comply with wearing such hosiery.

Comfort and panache are such little luxuries but they can offer immeasurable benefits.

The typical way theatre companies do jester tights is to buy one solid pair of each, open the crotch seam, and sew back together. However, that's much easier to do if you have a serger or at least a sewing machine with an overlock stitch.

You could buy 2 pairs, one red & one purple, and cut off one leg of each after sealing the area to be cut(I think Fray Check would work)... Then you'll have the tights and stockings. It has to be easier than trying to dye half and half or resewing a split pair.

I have never tried to dye my support stockings, I usually just wear them underneath my tights. If you do choose to dye, please do let us know about the pressure stockings!

I bought some of the "tall size" ones from them and they always got baggy in the ankles and legs :/

Thanks for the advice!

I'll try dying some T.E.D. hose and seeing how they work.

I wasn't as worried about their taking color as how their effectiveness would be altered by the dyeing process.

(Painting or other embellishment might work better albeit in a less subtle manner.)

Doubling up works in winter or aggressive air-conditioning but not in our hot, humid climate.

(If I poke sage and such down my summerwear,I've got an instant sweat lodge!

Errr... that would be "dew domicile" as ladies do not perspire as men and horses.)
