Suddenly weak, the adrenalin hemorrhaging from his legs, he let go of the gun.
His phone was tapped, his office bugged; a friend had been murdered in plain daylight. Dying in his arms - choking. These bandits are invisible, Eshan - you shouldn't have trusted me.
"You're a duplicitous bastard."
He said it. No one else was listening, not here. Only Nicholas, who took it without a blink.
Find them, Mark. For me, for Saida. A handicap isn't an excuse for helplessness.
"I'm not your enemy, Mark."
Now, inside the den of a spy: relief.
He sipped the clear water gratefully.
