I'm just going to... start crying and never stop. Ever. Oh Sherlock.

This story features such an unusual idea that it helps me re-examine canon elements in light of this, which is always a thrill. I still can’t…completely buy it, keeping in mind the first episode where Sherlock jumps about on rooftops, but I like the idea and the characterizations (particularly of Mycroft), and that could be explained by Sherlock attempting to overcome his fear. Plus, this is one of the best Lestrade-meets-Sherlock stories ever. Really clever and fascinating.

I really like this segment with John, too:

It's the begging that really gets John's attention; he stops and looks properly at Sherlock.

Sherlock so rarely begs that it’s always important when he does.

Thanks very much for sharing this with us!

Well, that's a new Lestrade-meets-Sherlock! Love it!

I agree with the above commenter - as I was reading, I recalled Sherlock leaping across rooftops. Then again, it also kinda makes sense, seeing as how he never DID look down, did he? John was the one who paused to glance down. Now I'll have to rewatch it to make sure (not that I'm complaining, mind!)

Very nicely done, particularly the last section.

Very interesting character study. I really enjoyed all of this, but my favourite bit would be the parallel between Mycroft's "weakness", and Sherlock realising where it comes together with his own. Much said in few words!
