"Ladies and Gentlemen, as you know, Starfleet Command's found a 22nd Century Starfleet Research Vessel and you're the lucky ones who get to investigate why it's been abandoned. It would be safe to assume that while life support and other critical ship's systems are still operational, most will not be. Cadet Barrows has some computer programming experience which will come in handy here."

Pike paused a minute giving them a second to comprehend that, "Don't be surprised if you have to venture to different areas of the ship to gather the information you need. If, by some chance, there are remnants of life forms, perform the necessary scans to determine cause of death. Any questions?"

Tonia only shifted once on her feet. It was her first away mission and she was slightly nervous though she was sure that Lieutenant Sulu would be able to keep the mission together since it did seem rather easy. Nothing like beaming down on a planet where they didn't know much about the populace right?

Giving the Admiral the hint of a little smile the Yeoman remained quiet finding no questions coming to mind at the moment.

Amara glanced around at the rest of the team. She felt like she should come up with a question but for the life of her could not think of anything remotely intelligent to say. She imagined her role here was to observe, do what she was told, and try not to break anything. She had to admit there was a nervous feeling in her stomach though. This mission reminded her of the beginning of far too many horror movies she'd seen.

Standing there to the side with her arms crossed under her chest, her fingers drumming against her ribs, and her brow furrowed in unmistakable impatience was Mathilda. She'd had to pull some strings to get in on this mission--yes, she did consider rescheduling half her crew at the last minute while making more than a couple of thinly veiled threats in the process as merely pulling a few strings--and was more than anxious to be off and doing something useful.

When it came time for the general Q & A session that usually followed a mission briefing, she was a little surprised that with all the fresh faces around, no one had a damn thing to say. With a sinking feeling that she might have to do a bit of babysitting along the way, she set the ball into motion herself. "Sir, what're the odds that the Klingons haven't already shoved their ugly faces into this business?"

Finally on the transporter pad Richard tried not to look too nervous. He had never transported onto another ship and they really had no idea what they would see. After the others filed onto the pad and the technician finally began the beaming sequence, he noticed the shimmer of light around him before they were all relocated to the transporter room of the NX-06.

His phaser was out in no time. If there was any threat, it was his responsibility to make sure that the situation was handled. Besides, there were 2 cadets with them, pretty girls no less, and with their lack of experience they may not even be able to handle a phaser let alone use proper tactics if they were attacked. Yeah, it was best he stuck it out right around them and kept a close eye on the perimeter.

Amara blinked quickly to clear her head from the temporary distortion caused by transport. While it wasn't exactly unpleasant it was certainly something she never really enjoyed. She looked around her surroundings, taking in the details. It appeared to be.... a plain old transporter room. Fascinating. However, she knew better than to let first glances fool her, and stayed alert and ready for anything.

Thankfully, her anxiety seemed to have stayed on the Enterprise, and she appeared calm, cool, and collected, waiting for instructions. She doubted anyone expected much of her, but she hoped they would at least give her something useful to do.

The first thing Mathilda noticed once all her particles had been properly assembled onto the transporter pad of the NX-06 was the smell. It wasn't exactly a noxious odor, but there was a definite stale quality to the air. Like someone hadn't cracked a window in a few hundred years. Or, most likely in this case, while life support functions on the ship were operational, the environmental controls needed a bit of tinkering. It wouldn't be noticeable after a half hour or so. "So that's what decades of stagnation smells like."

Since she was anxious to move about, she did just that, giving her surroundings and companions a cursory glance as she did so. She hadn't really paid much attention to the names on the mission roster and neither they nor the faces they belonged to were all that familiar to her. Which suited her just fine.

Taking a cue from the token security meathead with a phaser fetish, she pulled her own weapon from her rig and raised a brow at the senior officer. "Well, Lieutenant... where to first?"

As soon as Chekov was completely transported on to the ship, he took a deep breath. Even with advanced schooling on the workings behind transportation and the sciences that were involved in the act, he still felt a little nauseated at the thought of his entire being rearranging in space. Or maybe that was the smell.

His hand went from resting on his tricorder to squeezing his nose shut. There was definitely some kind of sickening odor coming from somewhere. He took a good look at the other members of the team, realizing he didn't really know any of them. Well, except Sulu.

When someone finally spoke up about orders, a female technician he didn't recognize, he decided to take a good look at his surroundings. The ship was similar in ways to the Enterprise, but it looked darker and worn out. Something about it rubbed Pavel the wrong way and a small shiver ran down his spine.
