Yum Yum Duck

Jan 16, 2007 11:23

We had sir_philipe and a friend of his over for dinner last night and I cooked duck for them. I have never cooked duck before but it came out beautifully; crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Delish. I used this recipe http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/ ( Read more... )

Thanks! It is so annoying dealing with other people's experiments and trying to say something sensible about them when they made so many errors. Aaaargh.

The meal and company was amazing last night. Thank you for putting up with me sleep deprived and all. I promise to stay over after 9:30 one of these nights :)

I couldn't get over how yummy the veggies were as well.

You have a great talent for cooking and I hope you back is feeling a little better.

Don't feel like you have to stay late, it was a school night after all :)

The yummy vegies were Mr Rob's responsibility, he has a real knack for asian flavours. I was very pleased the duck turned out so beautifully. I really enjoy cooking for other people as I get the opportunity to try out new dishes and push myself a little bit to improve my skills. When I think about how I used to cook when I first moved out of home and what I can produce now, I can see that I have come a very long way indeed.

The back is better today, I've been typing standing up at the table which seems to help a little bit.

Duck is good! My fanciest dish ever was a Jamie Oliver one with duck on plums with chinese spices and staranise. Was extremely yummy and I felt all smug for having produced such a flash dish! Oh to have an oven to try it again...

Oh you so have to make this for us when we come to visit you in Welly belly! And I remember when you used to say that you couldn't cook, but you still made me one of the best omelettes I have ever had.
