I saw this episode once of... I think it was Grey's Anatomy. I don't usually watch it, but it was on so I did. Anyway, in the opening and closing voice over thing the main character said "Why do we hurt ourselves? Because it feels so good when we stop." That describes my addiction to torture fics. The comfort that comes afterwards is just that much sweeter if the character's been through hell. Well, that's my two cents anyway...

Mmm, I understand that addiction to torture fics! The comfort is schexay. But I just can't seem to make the comfort last!

Yeah, once the initial angstgasm scene is over, there's really nothing left to do. You either have to end the story or introduce more torture.
