Embracing any motivating factor

Leon emailed me over the weekend and also noted in his blog that Chester died. I was saddened by the news, but it’s been almost two years since I moved to Prague and, as Leon wrote, Chester really ceased being mine when I developed an allergy to the guinea pigs, so I feel pretty detached from it. Exactly. I know from experience that trying to lose it for anyone else usually leads to failure anyway.

I'm glad to see this entry. I probably worried a bit too much because I've felt myself thinking the same way. Anyway, sorry for the long worries on the entry before, but I'm glad you understood what we were worried about.

You were right in that it is great to have a friend supporting you through your weight loss journey, and I hope that David can do this for you.

My worry, and I think you know this, is that you are validating yourself through others, not through yourself. Diet for yourself, live for yourself. Someday Mr Right will come along, but you'll already be at peace with who you are, and you'll enjoy the journey together without constantly wondering if he's going to leave because of this or that.
