Shalice was generally not one to pay any heed to Ophelia's crazy ramblings, unless of course she sensed the true malevolence beneath them that sometimes reared its ugly head, but it was very difficult not to pay attention to those crazy ramblings when smack in the middle of it was a recording of her best friend losing it about that spell. And the one who'd cast it had been a student. As soon as Shalice heard that, she'd been out of her chair and off like a shot down the hall, journal open and echoing on her desk.

When she arrived, it took all her determination and willpower not to blast down Rangiku's door and throttle her. Shalice had seen what that spell could do, had seen it happen to Rangiku herself. How could she have let a student get hold of it? She was supposed to have come to Hogwarts to leave all that behind ( ... )

"Don't--" came her started reply, but it was cut short, disregarded. "I don't want to talk about it," she said bluntly, her voice flat and more than a little hollow.

Of course they were going to talk about it. It was Psyche, and she was here, and it didn't take having known her for half her life to know that she was pissed. Rangiku took another swig of her drink. This really was the last thing she wanted, the last thing she needed, and probably the last time she was going to see the light of day if Psyche was as angry as she sounded.

"I don't care whether you're in the mood or not," Shalice said harshly, words clipped and angry.

She paced across the room, clenching and unclenching her fists, breathing in deep. She needed to calm down. Rangiku was her friend. Her very, very stupid friend, but still her friend. Shalice didn't want to lash into her too badly.

Of course, any semblance of calm disappeared when she opened her mouth.

"What the fuck were you thinking!?" She whirled around to face the other professor, stalking up to her desk and slamming her palms down, hard.

The words were like a slap, sharp and stinging. Rangiku stared in shocked silence, scrabbling for something resembling composure, rationality, a logical and calm explanation.

It didn't happen.

"You think I did this on purpose?" Her words were hurt and incredulous. And very, very angry, though a chunk of that was headed at herself. "You know I would never show that spell to anyone!"

She didn't even need to ask. Of course Shalice was here about the spell. That spell. "I don't need accusations from you!" What she needed was another drink, and she went to grab the bottle once more.
