That's how it was for me, over the course of my final summer after high school I changed drastically, and I lost contact with people or stopped talking to them because they changed drastically as well, and not necessarily for the better. I have a feeling that down the line if I come across anyone I graduated with there may be an exchange of hellos and what not, but I doubt they generally give a crap. When you are finished with high school, then start college your friends will disappear and vanish except for the few who are truly your friends, thus your circle of many is cut to a circle of few.
