No matter how close Samus got to that park she was told about, something railroaded her efforts to plant the sodding tomato seeds. This time, it wasn't the city leading her astray. It wasn't even her hands requiring a bandage change.

Somewhere in her mind, the idea of staying in one place and growing some plants disturbed her greatly, like she was surrendering to the city. Not the church, but the city. The relief she'd felt when she first arrived and was informed that nothing could escape had all but vanished.

So, given the choice between growing something to eat that didn't taste like an ancient penny and going to explore 'just one more thing'...well, that's how she ended up wandering more corridors in another institution.

The excursion had absolutely no points of interest until Samus saw some light from the corner of her eye. She really, really wanted to follow it, but her hands were hardly in a combat-ready state. If whatever was making the light was after a fight...

Oh, screw it. She walked towards the light as quietly as ( ... )

Someone other than himself was in the school. How interesting that experiment A01... oh, wait. He had set the dog loose in the school grounds with instructions not to go out past the gates. It was likely that it was still near the greenhouse, if it wasn't dead yet.

Saa. Usually he didn't care for human contact but he didn't have anything else better to do anyway.

"In here," he rasped out, his dry and scratchy throat not allowing him to speak properly.

The voice that answered her question had sounded weak. Samus poked her head into the doorway and saw a man lying on a couch. He looked terrible.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"I guess, if being alive counts as 'okay.'" Nii smirked cynically. "And just so you know, you can't die of starvation here. Damn is this place screwed up."

"So. Who are you?"
