extremely belated HARRY POTTER reaction post

Jul 31, 2007 15:49

My laziness in regards to making LJ posts is inexcusable. I could blame work, or anxiety, both of which are a little bit guilty, but it's mostly just me being lazy. And I aim to rectify that.

My goal? To post at least once a day for a week. Let's see if I can do this.

So, what did I think of Deathly Hallows? LOVED IIIIT.
Spoilers! )

The Bill/Parker thing you mentioned reminded me of a particular artwork I saw on DeviantArt: it was a commission someone had asked for, of Snape and his Patronus. This was before DH's release, and the person asked for it to be the shape of a phoenix. It's a gorgeous piece but after DH came out, all of the comments were, "lol his patronus iz a doe bitch". I felt so bad for her.

Ugh, people suck. Because she was supposed to be psychic, apparently? Maybe she should clearly label it as 'art that was made before the release of DH'. I mean, a lot of people probably have AU RPGs and plotlines at this point, so ... yeah. :\

Mm, she made a P.S. regarding that, and had to keep making additional edits because people weren't paying attention. I think the worst part about it is that she's a huuuuuuuge Snape fangirl and everything thinks she hasn't read the book or something. I love her art, it's just sad people are dumb and ruining the commission piece for both the artist and person that requested it. I don't think anyone else could've forseen what the patronus was going to be, so fuck 'em.

Oh man. I think I made it my goal to post once a week in, like, June. And, uhm, I have officially posted 0 posts since then. >_>

And I totally agree with you on the fandom, being upset by JKR and the epilogue. Seriously? After years of being followed by a sense of doom, Harry totally deserves to have a cheesy, cotton-candy and rainbow-sprinkles life.

FRED :[ That was the worst death. The woorrsst.

Ahaha, aww. :\ Maybe we shouldn't make goals and should just let the winds of LJ guide us? Whatever that means? I always want to post, but I hate my writing and find it awkward. I make even interesting things sound dull.

That is very true. Even though I'm sure his angst from the first 17 years of his life will haunt him forever. :( Poor Harry.

I KNOW OMG. I still feel like crying whenever I think about it.

I'm probably alone in this, but I sort of liked how she killed Hedwig. I know, I know. It was sad and I felt confused and it seemed unecessary at the time. Until I read the interview where JKR was going on about it being important to "remove Harry's security blanket". Which made so much sense.

But Fred? Hell no. Wrong.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. It still felt really random and unnecessary, but if you apply that logic after reading the entire book, it seems somewhat logical.

Seriously. :(

By the way, I saw your stepmum at work today! And Don's mum, ahahahaha.

I guess I wouldn't be too broken-up about it if Crookshanks died, but Pigwidgeon? ;________; NO.

Agreed re: everything in the third bullet point, or whatever. I can't really think of much to add, considering you said everything. So. Yeah. Agreein'.

Aww, I'm glad you accepted the epilogue; I did too. Yeah, it was like the cheesy ending of a fan fiction, but that's okay, because like you said, Harry deserved it. PLUS IT'S KIND OF A SERIES FOR CHILDREN/TEENAGERS, which a lot of people seem to forget. Not that I don't love it and take it far too seriously as well. I ain't gonna front. However, the fact remains that this book simply wasn't written to be edgy, controversial adult literature.

Poor Pigwidgeon. :( Maybe Ginny was taking care of him?

People really need to remember that these books are primarily meant for children. Sure, they can be enjoyed by older teenagers and adults, but we have to remember that children are also reading them. It's kind of selfish to expect JKR to pander to our wishes and ignore what kids would want to read.

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING THE ONLY OTHER PERSON WHO I'VE SPOKEN TO WHO ADMITTED TO AUTOMATICALLY THINKING OF GEORGE WHEN FRED DIED. ajkgjlsgklfdjg ;______; SO PAINFUL.

I thought the epilogue was so important, because it was closure. And it was cute, honestly. As time goes on, I see more and more people say it's like "bad fanfic", but what the fuck? Haven't we all wanted to see the characters we've known for so many years end up happy in the end? And what did they do? END UP HAPPY. So everyone should stfu.

Anyway, jfkdshjgkldsjg. DH = best fucking book of the series, imo. Because it covered on so many things and akjjlgdsklgjdskljgsklgsdjdgskjldgsndgjldgss I cannot think about it without wanting to delve right back into it but I am resisting that urge AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHYYYY.

TOO PAINFUL. :(((( How could she do that?! I honestly cannot even accept it. I mean, yes, JKR's word is canon. I know. But can it not be canon for that?! It's just too sad. alakja;alkja;sfa.

Yeah! That is a very good point, actually. Closure is what Harry Potter really needs; otherwise, people will be pestering her to write more books all the time. I guess they're still doing that, but she has an excuse to say, "No, see, they're all happy and I'm finished with these characters." And then maybe she could write other books about other characters. That'd be cool!

I need to reread the entire series. ;____; DH WAS AWESOME.
