Ino was... moody. Fun that. And kinda grumpy from her talk with A.J.

Really fun that.

She knocked lightly on his door, wondering if Kabuto would mind her company.

"Still. Thank you, Ino." Kabuto put his arm around Ino, half-hugging her. "I do appreciate you coming to see me, even if it doesn't seem like it sometimes."

She closed her eyes, just resting against him. "I kinda get it," she told him, "I think I'm slowly getting the hang of you."

"Uh oh," Kabuto murmured, kissing the top of Ino's head. "That sounds dangerous."

"You like it dangerous," came the mild retort. Mmmm. Nice, and warm Kabuto.

"I do. And, obviously, so do you." He was perfectly happy right there where they were, shifting his other arm to hold Ino in a proper embrace.

Ino was terribly comfortable and not planning on moving for a good while. Yeah, no. "Maybe I do," she said, "but I think you like that about me."

"Yes," Kabuto said bluntly, kissing her cheek. "I do."

"Good," she said, wriggling a bit, deliberately, "because I doubt that'll ever change."

[sound_loyalty]

"It could happen," he pointed out. "But I like it, so it would be nice if it didn't." The wriggling did not go unnoticed, but Kabuto made no outward reaction.

"...Did you want to stay here, tonight, or am I going to need to let go?" Kabuto asked after a moment, his voice quiet.

She stopped wriggling immediately. "No letting go!" Which answered that question neatly.

"And I don't think it would, but I'll try not to let it change? If that'd help?"

"We'll see how time goes?" Kabuto offered, snuggling Ino. Just a little. Snuggling still wasn't something he was terribly familiar with.

Well, Ino didn't imagine that Orochimaru was the snuggling sort so the fact that Kabuto did it at all made her almost ridiculously happy.

"Works for me," she said, shifting to rest more firmly in his arms.
