Ino was... moody. Fun that. And kinda grumpy from her talk with A.J.

She knocked lightly on his door, wondering if Kabuto would mind her company.

"Should've found me earlier," Ino told him, "I was in a foul enough mood that taking you on would've been an excellent idea."

No it really wouldn't have been.

"Earlier I was still dealing with my own bloodlust. I wouldn't trust myself not to kill you - by accident, of course, but it would still be death." Kabuto was very matter-of-fact about this.

Ino was pretty matter-of-fact about hearing it. "Then it's good, I guess, I didn't stop by until now. Dying would be pretty bad."

"It would. I'd probably feel terrible about it." The raw fury he'd been channeling left him to burned-out to not be honest, right now.

"Just probably?" she asked him, lightly.

"Assuming I had the ability to feel remorse at the time. Which I didn't. I'd have to feel bad at a much later time." Kabuto's honesty could be somewhat brutal sometimes, but it was flat truth without any sugar-coating.

"I like that," she said, glancing up at him, "the way you just say things like that and tell me the truth."

"...?" Kabuto blinked at her, a little surprised. "When I'm being honest, why would I lie?"

"Some people do," Ino told him, "I like that you don't."

[sound_loyalty]

"I think it would defeat the purpose of the honesty," Kabuto replied, still somewhat baffled. "But I'm...glad you like it?"

She stretched, smiling a bit. "I mean it."

"I don't doubt that." Kabuto watched Ino stretch, but did not attempt to touch her. "...Thank you for coming to see me, by the way."

She tilted her head at him. "You're welcome?" Ino said, confused, "I mean, I do like seeing you after all."

"You were in a bad mood yourself, but you still came here. That counts for something, don't you think?" Kabuto smiled.

She leaned against him. Still not really getting it. "Well... yeah? I mean, you make me feel better just by being around."
