Characters: Gai, Kerrigan, Obito, Watson Location: Clinic Rating: Gen? Time: January 11 Description: Gai tries to sneak Obito out of the evils of the clinic. He runs into Kerrigan, Watson's new secret weapon.
By now Obito was doing much better. The improvements were easy for even Gai to see, and he knew that Obito wanted to see Kakashi. The solution was easy in Gai's mind. Rescue Obito! Nobody enjoyed being cooped up in the clinic! Full of confidence that he was doing the right thing, Gai semi-snuck into the clinic.
There was no Watson in sight. This was a good thing, in Gai's opinion. The other doctors he could disregard, but ever since he'd become friends with Watson it had gotten very, very difficult to excuse slipping away and escaping.
He entered the boy's room. "Obito." Gai kept his voice low. "Are you ready to escape from here?"
Over the past few days Obito's drug dosage had lessened, but he was still kept on a mild painkiller and sleeping most of the day away. There were times when he did get a bit antsy though resting suited him just fine while his injuries were still pretty extensive. However, he wanted to see his old friend and badly. Kakashi couldn't very well walk here for a visit with his broken leg.
Still, Obito hesitated a moment when Gai walked in, unsure if he should leave so soon after recovering from his post-death injuries. It just seemed a little bit risky.
"Do we really have to escape?" Obito kept his own voice low in reply, but stood despite the complaint in his voice. His arm was set in its cast and that made moving a bit harder, but he could move without feeling like he was going to double-over in pain and that was a great improvement from how he had felt arriving here in Death City.
Gai tilted his head. While he hadn't been overly close to Obito when they were kids... er, when Gai had been a kid, he wasn't sure of any ninja who wouldn't want to be free. "Do you wish to stay here instead of the apartment that myself and Kakashi share? There is a room for you. Or you can... remain a prisoner. It is up to you."
He glanced around before shrugging. "I simply thought that I would assist you in getting out of here. I have not known any ninja who liked staying, but it has been many years since we have known each other! I could have been wrong."
Obito snorted at the word "prisoner." He was hardly being kept against his will or feeling tortured by the inactivity that came with resting in the clinic. If anything, he had only felt a little mentally under-stimulated, but he never turned down a comfortable bed and a reason to laze about

Maybe Gai should ask Kakashi more about Obito. The boy seemed... rather uninspired to get out, to go, to push. How was it that Kakashi and Obito hadn't seemed to get along perfectly? Surely their lazy attitudes would have suited each other.
Gai pondered how to get Obito out. "Would you be fine with walking, leaning on me for support, or would you like to be carried? I have carried Kakashi on my back, and you are much smaller than he is now, so it would not be a burden."
Talking was something Gai did a lot of. He liked to talk. Sometimes he even talked more to make up for people who didn't talk much at all.
