He sat where he considered to be his spot, but he knew that it did not really matter one way or the other. In the future, this place would be closed and this would just be another spot to be filled with emptiness. Hisahide did not know how it would be closed -- negligence on his part, destruction due to an attack of the city, his leaving to return home and no one wishing to carry it on. Honestly, it did not matter and so he had no real attachment to the tea shop one way or the other. Only something to pass the time in ( ... )

Gai really didn't know what to think of Masanaga. There seemed to be no passion there, nothing to build off of, but at the same time he'd seen the pause when talking to the other man. There was something there.

"It is often good to ask the owner of a place what they recommend, because they know their trade and know what is best. I find it strange that you do not have a preference, though." "No preferences at all? You do not have a favorite anything? Color, or blanket, or side of the bed, or shoes, or pasttime?" Gai shakes his head. "I do not know if I can believe that. Everyone has things they prefer to do or drink or eat. For instance, do you prefer tea over coffee? Or beer?"

Then he nods, and pulls out a ten. "Here. That way there is a tip too. And I am here to find out more about you."

That was a clue, that Hisahide didn't think anyone really wanted to be around him. "What if I wish to be more than a stranger? What if I think that everyone needs friends, and that you could use another?" Something about aloof people drew him, made him want to help them and reach out. No one should be alone, Gai felt. Here, at least, there likely was a reason for the aloofness, but that didn't change Gai's desire to help.

"No. I do not have any of those things." He stared calmly at Gai. "I only drink this now simply because it is there. I care not for any drink more than the other. I will probably have wine tonight by the moon." His fingers lifted away from the cup to tap lightly on top of the skull ( ... )
