Oh how wonderful. Thank you so so much. Older, domestic versions of the Winchesters is one of my favorite things in the world, and you've hit the nail right on the head. The way that they will always be brothers first and foremost, with their bickering and teasing, robes and spectacles and thick wool socks. Sam's creaky joints and his enjoyment of gardening and dishes and all the regular everyday stuff, how he sinks into the mundanity of it (and how he's grown to be more like Dean in that way--brilliant). The imperfect sex (yes yes yes!!!) and Sam's nostalgia, all those memories of desperation and life on the road with his brother had me grinning hugely, as did all of your small nods to their past, Dean's scars, Greek gods and all.
I love that quiet little moment they share, Sam hugging his brother from behind, Dean's awkward pat on his hands that says that he gets it, and this: I love you, he wanted to say again, and, It's okay, it's not like that for us. What we have isn't like that. What we have is good and I ( ... )

I love your point about the boys continually seeking each other out in the bunker. It didn't even occur to me that I was writing that, but now that you say it, I can see that you're completely right and it makes such perfect sense. I always love that no matter what Sam and Dean do, they always end up coming back to each other, and I love that while that makes me feel all warm and happy inside and shows how much they love each other, it's also very symptomatic of their co-dependence and how stifling and powerful that love can be.
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
