I loved this. I had a feeling it might end unhappily so I was rooting for a happy ending for Sam and Dean.
I liked how you made this realistic. It's sad that there are limitations on what they can do, but I guess it's better that they found out when and how they did rather than finding out if they were actually trying to adopt or someone digging into Sam's past if he tried to be a politician and others finding out.
Though Sam's possessiveness of Dean in regards to children does seem possible, and therefore a good reason not to have any. But even though they can't have kids they could get pets. I can see Dean with a dog, and cats would be good too-some kind of pet to interact and cuddle with.
Do you need a blood test to get married? I would think it's something people might do if they want to see if their genes would create a child with something seriously wrong with it, but I wouldn't think that test is a precursor to marriage....maybe a choice for some, but it's not a law, right?
Some states and some countries ask for blood tests, so yes, some places you do need them, though I doubt they bother with gay marriage, and it's not as prevalent now as it used to be. Dean was just being paranoid and not thinking straight, poor boy.
I agree with you on the pet thing, Dean with a dog is definitely one of those things I just love the idea of. In my mind, after they moved into the house, they got dogs.
So happy that you liked the fic. I really enjoyed writing this one, it almost wrote itself, so I'm pleased other people seem to like it ;D Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful comment.
Can I just start by saying I rarely, if ever, read anything long, let alone AU...
Haha, so many people say that to me! I seem to always be writing AU's and tropes that aren't popular. But thank you so, so much for the lovely feedback, I am flattered that you kept reading!!! It's awesome to hear that.
Man, you always get me to read fic tropes that I don't usually give a damn about, and you make me love them. Sam and Dean raised together, no hunting, plus kid-fic? I loved it. In this universe, with Sam and Dean raised apart, oh my god, in non-hunting lives--I'm not kidding, that sort of story usually bores me to tears. But here? THIS FIC IS AWESOME!
I'm really fascinated by the idea of genetic sexual attraction, and I loved how you showed that in Sam and Dean's relationship here--their instant desire and need, their instant connection, the way they recognized home and family in each other (if not a particularly accurate variant of home and family, bwhaha). The way they love how the other tastes, feels, smells--while neither of them recognize that it's probably because they smell like each other. (I bet Sam figures that out some day, though, research-bug that he is

Haha, I think I just responded to the above commenter on the same thing - I seem to always be writing AU scenarios and tropes that aren't popular! Though I'm so pleased you decided to give it a shot anyway ;D
And thank you so much for such a long thoughtful comment! ITA, the genetic sexual attraction stuff is fascinating and after reading that article, I just had to write a fic that dealt with it straight up in a more "realistic" setting than in canon. I really wanted to write a Sam & Dean who'd been hit by GSA but not make it blatantly obvious that that's what it was - like you say, the instant connection, instant desire and need for each other. One of the things that really struck me in that article is how important scent and smell is and how the sufferers would just get naked and lie together, just needing to be close. It's such an evocative concept.
I thought their first meeting was so damned charming! I loved Sam's embarrassment, and I loved how Dean was utterly tickled by him.Oh, man, I loved writing that first chapter! Sam'

Just amazing take on the whole consept. I loved how, unlike many other wincest fics, you actually wrote a qenuine reaction to the whole incest issue (even though in most stories they already know they are brothers, but still they don't react to the part of commiting incest very realisticly), but also how they finally came to terms with it. Also taking into consideration the effects of staying in incestious relationship was interesting, the whole can't get married/adopt/be in the public eye. Not many authors think of that, usually its just "living happily ever after" once the initial shock is over

Wow thank you! So happy that you say the boys were still in character.

It was really important to me to make sure that there were repercussions to Sam & Dean's relationship and not that everything was straight forward and hunkydory. I wanted them to have to make sacrifices to be together and to choose to be together over other things, like Dean having to give up the idea of being a Dad, and Sam to give up his dreams of a political career. In the end of course, they would always choose each other <3
