The essay was really interesting and made a lot of good points. I know my life was pretty controlled when I was that age, so that's probably still in the mix in my reaction to the books.

Yes, that was an excellent essay that made a lot of great points. A lot of what adult women take for granted are what teenagers might see as liberating and exciting in the book. I will definitely point people to this essay from now on as a balance to all the wank.
