“But-”
“I said no, Alec. Put it back you have enough,” sighed Logan for what felt like the fifteenth time.
“But you can never have enough,” exclaimed Alec. “Besides I’ll pay for it.” He shot Logan a winsome smile that had the man snorting beside him.
“No you won’t. You’ll just put it under your jacket and walk out.”
“Hey, it works,” Alec said, disgruntled. He’d done it enough to know.
“Only if you don’t get caught this time,” Logan hissed, glancing around the store before pushing Alec to get him moving down the aisle again.
“How was I supposed to know that that guy had the one working security camera in the Sector? It wasn’t my fault.” It really wasn’t his fault. Besides the guy that owned that store was a sleaze bag. He didn’t deserve the few bucks it would have cost Alec to pay for what he’d pocketed. And Alec didn’t appreciate Logan taking every opportunity to remind him of his mistake. Hey, he learned from his mistakes! He made sure the surveillance was conveniently not working in whatever store he went into whenever he needed something and didn’t have the cash for it.
“Then whose fault was it? Not to mention the little bit of breaking and entering you did later on that night.” Logan really didn’t mind the fact that Alec had broken into his place; it was the black eye Alec had gotten from the storeowner that bothered him.
“It’s not breaking and entering if all I did was open the unlocked door, especially when you knew that I was coming by. Besides you love my company.” Alec was smiling by the time he finished his sentence, leaning into Logan’s personal space like he belonged there. “Everybody loves me.”
“You’re still supposed to knock and wait for the person to invite you in, before taking it upon yourself to walk in like you own the place. Also you might want to adjust that last statement a bit. Not everyone loves you right now.”
“That’s not my fault either. You’re getting very good at finding things that aren’t my fault.” Moving from one aisle to the next, Alec held up a package of Cocoa Puffs and turned to Logan with a grin. “Can we get this?”
“Have you seen how much sugar is in that?” Logan asked, eyeing the box in Alec’s hand like it was a bomb waiting to explode. Turning away and eyeing the boxes of instant oatmeal he said absently, “She still isn’t happy with you. Oh and nice try on changing the subject by the way.”
Alec huffed beside him, still clinging to the box of cereal, kicking at the rusted wheel on the shopping cart Logan was pushing. “Maxie’s never happy with me. Not exactly a new thing.” Logan had to admit Alec was right about that one. “And yes I’ve seen how much sugar is in it which is half the reason I want it.”
“Well, you still can’t have it,” Logan said, beginning down the aisle again after he dropped a box of oatmeal into the cart.
“Why not?” Alec pouted behind him, following with the box still in his hand.
“Because you shouldn’t be eating that stuff. It’ll rot your teeth.”
“But-”
“No!” Logan said, trying to sound exasperated at having to go through this again. The truth was he was going to give in - he almost always gave in to Alec - but the arguing was half the fun.
“I’ll buy it for myself,” Alec said while hugging the box with childlike glee, waggling his eyebrows at Logan with a promise of something very, very good if Logan just gave in.
“Fine, I suppose one box of cereal won’t kill anyone.” Logan looked over at Alec and tried to look stern as he met Alec’s eyes, saying, “As long as you promise not to eat it all in one sitting again.”
Alec just answered him with a kiss.
