I want all the peanut M&M's in the world, starting with yours

There was an article in the New York Times recently about how women with mates gain weight. This is because their mates buy bags of peanut M&M's and leave them where Llamas can find them. Mmmmm....tasty.

It was the idea of complexity and competition that put me off at first. raygungothic has since shown me that D&D as he and his friend run it (both good GMs which stands for Game Master in different ways) is a) about enjoying yourself and b) working as a team. No one wins or loses except maybe the monster you're fighting (and it usually deserves it as it has probably tried to eat you or poison you). No one notices point scoring when you're fighting a necromancer with a giant crow familiar. In fact, if you don't work together, you don't get better at things, you all die.

I lived in my fantasy land a lot. Heck, you know, you lived with me for ages and I didn't think I would be able to game as I felt similarly to you but raygungothic insisted I have a go. And I was wrong about not being able to get out of my own fantasy land ( ... )

See, I knew you'd have a better grasp. Also, I felt a bit that "improvised radio play" was your phrase. Further, my comparison to Philo was to imply its face to face nature. But thank you for the corrections. I think as a more experienced gamer you should outline the difference between it and board or computer games or snuggly_llama should come visit us over here and you run a game for us. ;-) Of course, snuggly_llama should come and visit us anyway gaming notwithstanding.

There are a *lot* of different kinds of games. There are games like Arkham Horror and the Lord of the Rings game that are cooperative--all the players work together to fight Lovecraftian horrors (in the first example) or Sauron (in the second). WoW is a cooperative game, too, and you work with other plays to accomplish mutual goals. Assuming they're fairly mature players.

I'm personally a huge fan of single-player RPGs (computer and console). You don't interact with real people, and you become immersed in rich fantasy worlds, with meaningful quests and goals.
