One of our friends' toddlers was recently diagnosed with autism. To support his family and help fund autism research, I signed up myself and M. for the Autism Speaks Kansas City Walk Now for Autism.

Thinking in Pictures is the greatest. My parents actually thought, for a brief time, that I might have Asperger's because I did not communicate verbally at all until I was ready to speak in complete sentences, and I had a hard time dealing with physical contact and change. Turns out I was just a really, really untrusting little kid. Once I started talking they knew I couldn't possibly have an ASD, but when I read Thinking in Pictures, I still noticed some things that reminded me of myself ( ... )
