Books of 2007

Jan 05, 2008 11:36

In typical lazy me fashion, I'm waiting until the first week of the new year is almost over to usher out 2007 properly. The majority of the memes circling about seemed to be more focused on real life events, which. Blah. I'm guessing you probably don't want to read about mine (I don't even want to read about them), so here instead is my Fictional ( Read more... )

trivia, lost, star trek: tos, star trek, harry potter, year in review, books, sherlock holmes, jeopardy!, watchmen, lists

Whee, books!

And yaaay for Doctor's Orders! That was possibly the most delightful ST book I've read thus far. *fangirls McCoy too*

Oo, and Something Fresh.... You know, I've read a ton of the Jeeves and Wooster books, but haven't really investigated any of others. I can't imagine why, because Wodehouse is love. I'll have to remedy that this year. :D

I know, it was awesome! Thanks so much for the recommendation. I felt quite silly checking it out from the library, but I definitely read the whole thing with a silly happy grin plastered to my face. :D

Personally, I think it took me so long to explode Wodehouse's other writings simply because it's quite overwhelming to look at that loooong list of books and figure out where to start! Aside from Something Fresh, the only other non-Jeeves and Wooster I've read is Piccadilly Jim, which was also a ton of fun.

Don't thank me too much for keeping you literate - people stopped reading so I stopped posting, and I've been meaning to do a "catch-up" post for like 3 months lol.

Even if it did sort of fall off once we all got busy with other things, it was fantastic of you to get it started in the first place. I mean, most of those were things I would never have read otherwise, and it was really great to step out of my usual genres. And, hey, maybe once the show starts again, we'll be struck by a new enthusiasm or something.

Oh, and where's the Nite Owl/Rorschach slash when you need it??

RORSCHACH IS NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE SEX WITH ANYONE, EVER. *shudders* (It's not like he'd want to anyway.)

Well, it wouldn't have to be anything explicit. I was just thinking about this while rewatching North & South a few days ago, but you know how you have totally different standards of sexiness while watching costume dramas? As in, Richard Armitage can loosen his cravat with two fingers and suddenly it turns into the sexiest strip scene you've ever seen? Or Lizzie and Darcy brush fingertips and omg the overwhelming tension? That's totally how I feel about this (...and, no, I'm not picturing Rorschach in a Regency gown, in case you were wondering) -- it's all in the significant hand holding!

(Well, I suppose Watchmen is technically a period drama...)

BUT NO. Seriously, Rorschach freaks me out to a significant degree.

I'm just another die-hard Dickens fan. Bleak House is probably my favourite apart from Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol (apparently I've got a thing for "orphans").

I've been meaning to read A Wrinkle In Time and Watership Down, and one of my mates has been pestering me to read Sherlock Holmes for quite some time...

That Facebook application sounds handy - perhaps I'll have to get a Facebook(but not just for that, I SWEAR).

I have to say that A Tale of Two Cities has always been my favourite -- Sydney Carton is right at the top of my list of Best Fictional Characters EVER.
