Ages ago, I wrote 8k of an S3 AU fic where Sam determines that, for reasons, the way to keep Dean out of hell (for a little while, anyway) is to get him pregnant. I had a lot of fun with the worldbuilding of it, which was motivated by (if not apparently related to) some of what big_pink did in her magnum opus Red (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE NEVER READ
