I love it. It's really an original idea. I like both Dru's voice and her interaction with the Buffybot and Buffybot seen with her eyes. Lovely fic!

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Dru + Buffybot just seemed like an inherently tragic/hilarious combination. :)

This was wonderful, such an amazing and creepy look at how Dru sees the world, and her voice felt so authentic.

Yay, thank you! As can probably be guessed from my icon, I'm very fond of Dru, but I haven't written her that much. I'm glad you enjoyed this outing. :)

This combination has never occurred to me but - WOW. The way you capture Dru, the atmospheric quality and the misleading sense of fragility (that really isn't) - I'm verklempt.

And Buffybot is one of my favorite characters. Wonderfully original.

Dru grinned back, ever so pleased, and took her by the hand, and bestowed on her all the favors appropriate to a distinguished warrior from a lady.

And a Spike was entirely unnecessary, they discovered.

LOVE THIS. One of the best endings to a fic I've read - you NAILED the landing. "to a distinguished warrior from a lady" - fantastic.

Yay, I am so glad you liked it! I had terrible fun writing it. Dru's one of my favorites (as is maybe evident from my icon), and as soon as I thought of the Buffybot as a kind of doll, if a much more stubborn one than Dru is used to, it just seemed so obvious. :D

(The femslash came later, though; this started life as a genfic. Hard to imagine now.)

That ending is SO perfect I can't imagine it any other way. And yes, the connection between the dolly and the bot is fantastic; it reminds me of a friend in college who owned a beautiful vintage store manniquin of a woman (actually a collector's item signed by the artist) and she explicitly made the connection in a conversation between her attraction to it and an earlier love of dolls. Women looking for fascimilies of themselves - in dolls, in mirrors - trying to find someone/something who will listen, trying to build or affirm a sense of identity ( ... )
