I very rarely write anything like this, so I am pleased. I mean, the tone really ended up being more comedic in the beginning and melancholic at the end, rather than proper horror, but still.

The bit where she misses and then apologizes tore me up, because Buffy does not apologize to Spike, especially at that point in their relationship. Gah.

I think it was properly horrible by the end. And yes, agree with penny_lane_42, the part where Buffy actually tries to stake him and he doesn't dust is just heartbreaking - for both of them.
