30 Days of Buffy meme - days 3 and 4

Jan 30, 2011 17:24

It's that time again. Rather than writing more on the winter_of_faith thing (which I'm gonna do here any minute now, because it's due tomorrow), I recorded another session of the 30 days of Buffy. I don't know how quinara manages to answer five questions in one go, because it took me fifteen minutes on two questions this time. Sigh ( Read more... )

Oddly, I don't like any of DV's other stuff quite as much. The Angel theme really does hit exactly the right balance for me.

I was the same way about not fully appreciating Buffy until I joined fandom and began reading a lot of meta. I loved her, but it was more like obligatory love. Excellent (and hilarious) point about Anya not understanding what it meant to be human even when she was one. I like your reasons for loving Dawn, like always wanting to know the truth b/c of her made-up past. Another character whom I am learning to appreciate more because of meta!

Yay! She's one that I warmed to automatically, but I'm thrilled to be able to share the joy with someone else.

You're so much more complete in your answers, that's how! For some reason I've challenged myself to bite the bullet and only give one response to each one (and cop out entirely on Spuffy by just saying 'it's Spike + Buffy; come on, people').

Mostly with you on the CWDP song - I remember it a little better when people mention it, I think, and the line 'I fell into the moon' has stayed with me since it aired, but in general (as much as I love the one-step-to-the-left-of-normal set up in that episode) I find it a bit generic, because it's trying to talk about all the characters at once. And loneliness means different things to each of them!!

The things about Dawn that you think you've filled in the gaps for are actually very similar to my own, so I want to argue they do come from the show somewhere... (I have this deleted scene from To Apprehend Air where Dawn talks to Buffy about Spike, and your Dawn sounds very much like the way I see her in that.) I always remember in The Weight of the World (or is it The Gift?) when she tells ( ... )

It's true. If I'd quit surveying all my possible answers before picking one, this would go faster. *g*

she tells Ben to CHANGE into Glory, even though Ben's attempting to seem nicer to her. She can't stand dissimulation.

Yes! I'd forgotten about that one, but you're right. It's a perfect example.
