Sometimes when he looked at him he caught the remnants of old, like a fire casting shadows along the weary lines of that still handsome face. But that was all it was. A shadow. A ghost of a soul like a wisp, lingering briefly before evaporating behind shallow depths of green in that hollow husk of a man. Castiel had watched the light go out of his eyes, and had bowed his head in nothing less than bitter admiration when he soldiered on. Admiration for his unwavering strength. Bitter for the heart that burned cold. His own bled.
It had started out small. A caress of a shoulder, the muscles tensed, relaxing only by the circles of a reassuring thumb. Tentative fingers feathering over the back of a hand, giving a gentle squeeze. Unsure lips pressed firmly, lovingly against a creased brow, smoothing beneath the touch. But soon it was not enough. Stubbled chin on stubbled chin, mouths desperate with need, frantic tongues fumble on that first step, feeling their way, the angel letting the other lead.
Now he grunted, fire low in his belly, a body pressed firmly against his back, arms tight round his waist, letting Dean fill him completely with desperation and an empty rage, pounding out a painful rhythm, pleasure only just taking off the edge, a scream ripping from his lungs as he took his seed, his own weeping into the crumpled sheets. Dean’s head buried in Castiel’s neck, and he felt him quake, but for reasons he did not fully understand, a sob choked down in the young man’s throat. He had no tears left to give, so Castiel shed them for him. It was all for him.
