We all like to think that our colleges are liberal places where homophobia and hate are distant...well, at least I usually like to think so, considering I go to UCSC, one of the most liberal schools in the US. As much as Santa Cruz is probably one of the most tolerant cities around, today I whitnessed how even this city can be full of hate

in DC, we went to the national mall when it snowed, and some guy was in a truck yelling about how abortion was wrong, and we got mad and threw snowballs at him, and so he goes "throw snowballs if you're a baby killer" and we threw MORE snowballs, and he goes "yup, yup, you're a baby killer"

Any chance of a Union Jack version of that banner ;-) Actually, we have far too much of a growing trend of racism and Nationalism in this country to worry about homophobia, which, thankfully, doesn't seem to be anywhere near as rife as it is where you are.

I lived at Cowell College, Beard House from 2001 to 2003, and then in 2004 I lived off campus while I studied my masters. I wonder if we knew any of the same people?

yeah sorry...I had un-f/l the post a while ago to show someone the pictures and then forgot to re-lock. I'm kinda anal about it since I'm starting student teaching soon. Not that there's anything like, BAD up in here, but you know. Kiddies don't need to know about my personal life.

I was a Porter student, but I did know lots of people from Cowell. I was a history major and I had a show on KZSC, so I know some people from those...maybe so?

I loved UCSC. I actually just moved to SJ from SC and I miss it already :/
