...HELLO WHO WAS THIS GUY Sasha did not remember him. Not bad looking either. Well, this clearly was the best time for first impressions. What better way for Caim to meet someone, anyone than a half dragon, half human girl.
The sound made Caim want to jump out of his skin. A girl. Well. At least she looked like a girl. Never mind not the kind he ever expected to see. But a girl nonetheless.
As crisp as crisp could be, he lifted his broadsword defensively and simply stared at her, the interrogative stare passing over his features.
Woman, if you have want to live, you'll explain yourself and... and this monstrosity.
Unfortunately, there seemed to be a language barrier between then. Or she understood nothing of what he was thinking. Just that she had a sword pointed at her, and she immediately assumed a fighting stance.
"Uh, if you're trying to speak to me telepathically like some of the Pokemon do, I'm not hearing anything," she said with a shrug after what seemed like a considerable amount (all five seconds) of silence. "The sword class is outside, not here."
Sword class. Sword class? He didn't even... Right. His inability to speak. He couldn't explain where he was. Couldn't tell her who he was. Couldn't really do much of anything. Was it worse to be eaten and ripped apart by harpies, or was this worse?
The stance spoke enough and Caim had seen plenty of those in his day. He'd had no plans to tackle her or anything else of the sort, but he took his sword into his right hand, and with the left made for a gentle, yet firm, grasp along the base of her neck.
Carefully he shook her back and forth before guiding her towards the wall, assuming she didn't try to sneak out of his grasp, which was perfectly natural.
I'm not here for any sort of class. I need you to tell me precisely where I am and what's happened to the Union and the Empire!
Sasha had no idea what he was trying to do, but even as a human, she was still a Charizard and anything short of pushing her around was considered a challenge. She used her free hand to pushed his away as they get near the wall, now standing behind him, wings open to look as threatening as possible. Her tone hadn't changed, however.
"I'm warning you. Don't try that again." Then she had an idea, and took out some paper from her backpack, with a pen and clicked it open, holding them up to him. "Can you write? Tell me you can write..."
Wings. Wings. She had bloody wings! And immediately he thought of Angelus, which brought him back around to another bout of murderous rampages.
Well, it would have up until she offered up pen and paper. He stared blankly at her for a moment. Then in all of his hesitance, he slipped his sword away. After all, at any time, she could tear out his throat. Because that's what all people did.
Caim nodded and carefully took each from her and in neat legible script, which seemed too fine for a man in bloody armour, he wrote.
"Where am I? Where is the dragon? What has happened to Furiae? What is the current position of the Empire?"
Sasha took back the paper and looked at it, one eye still at him, least he take out that sword again for who knew what reason.
"Okay let's me try to answer those," she began, rubbing her chin. The tail behind her swished back and forth.
"You're at Smash Academy. It's a a school for learning. I'm...gonna guess you've just arrived here. I've heard of that happening before! Sometimes people just...show up or something." she shrugged, unsure how to explain it. "I could take you to the headmasters if you want. They could explain you about it."
"Second one, what dragon are you looking for? Do you consider Charizards dragons, cause in that case, I'm a dragon."
"...Okay the other two," she winced her eyes, thinking. "I don't remember anyone named Furiae and whatever the Empire is, there's none of that here either, from what I know." Hopefully she was being very helpful...or just making him more confused.
The moment she took his paper, his hand automatically rested on the hilt of his sword and his eyes, glued to her tail, refused to go much of anywhere else. Up until she spoke.
He was at an academy. What in the name of the Goddess was an academy? And why was he there? He had no want to be there. He wanted to be left alone to wrought in his misery. Or something.
Then his brown eyebrows knit together and he ran his free hand over his face, mindful of the pen before reaching forward to write some more for her.
"You are a dragon. You are not the dragon I am searching for. What is an academy? Why would Verdelet condemn me here?"
Because clearly it was a punishment from the gods for one or two of Caim's failings.
"Uuuuh....I have no idea?" she tentatively began. "It seems to happen once in a while and someone shows up instead of coming to the school by their own." She pointed to herself again. "Like me! We came because Red was here...but anyway...is Verdelet some sort of guy you worked for over there, or a trainer?"
"Duly heeded." He paused when she asked about Verdelet and his expression hardened. Verdelet was the reason everything fell apart. If the damn priest had kept his thoughts to himself, Caim wouldn't have suffered so much.
"Verdelet is a priest. A priest whose life I shall render an end for." Assuming Verdelet didn't get eaten by the harpies first. "He is an unfortunate consequence on the world and must be eradicated."
Sasha hasn't understood half of the fancy words, but more than enough to know what they meant.
"You mean, you want to kill someone?" Dude. Dude no killing on the school grounds okay. "Well I haven't heard of this guy so I guess there's no need for him to be eradicated, right?"
"Except he isn't here. If he shows up, he will taste my blade."
And then his blade would get a taste of holier-than-thou priest. That sounded like a grand way to start things off. Then he'd find Angelus and just continue along as he always had. What a shame there was no bald man in his vicinity.
"Until then. I suppose the rest of you are just under the Goddess's good fortune."
Well she didn't see that as a threat, oddly enough.
"Well Arceus is pretty nice," she said, agreeing (but not really getting it.) She placed one of her clawed hands to her face, thinking. "Not to mention she owns a bakery near here, although I wonder since she left if it's still in operation..."
Caim blinked once, and then again as he listened to her.
"Who is this Arceus you speak of?"
Unless she thought... Unless she meant...
Of course. Not everyone could be considered to have the same gods and goddesses. He knew that well enough. He simply spoke... 'spoke' out of habit. Why did he need to change anything he had plans of saying, anyway? He couldn't see the logic in that.
"Exactly!" she answered with a firm nod. "Well god, goddess, actually. Apparently she likes to change her form whenever she likes. Most Pokemon call her the Original One. A lot of her First Children also use that term as well. Some of the humans do too."
Thankfully the music had died down a bit at this point so she didn't have to yell out everything.
"Maybe she'll come back one day. You can see her then." Yes, because I'm sure Caim would be delighted to see a goddess on campus.
Oh, yes. Caim was just jumping up and down regarding the possibility of seeing a new goddess. A goddess that wasn't his. A goddess that wasn't The Goddess.
No. He was pretty sure he could live without, but he wasn't about to say that to Sasha. So instead he nodded ever so slightly.
"Yes. Perhaps I will. We will see."
And it was one of those things that he could easily live without.
"Hello! You new? Name's Sasha!"
