Early on in Voile's work, a Chikorita bugs her! sweetscentmint April 20 2010, 05:58:08 UTC
And along came a Mint again, this time in more of a rush than anything. Today was not the first day the young Chikorita had come to help, as she dashed along to help Erika when she told everyone.

She skidded to a halt near Voile, taking care not to trip or mess up the soil. She seemed to be holding a few bags of seeds, and grinned when she saw her big sister friend. "Voile! You're helping too?! That's great!" She sat down. "Do you mind if I plant with you?"

Voile looked up to Mint and she patted the ground beside her with an encouraging smile. "By all means. You can do whatever you'd like, but I enjoy your company if that's what you mean."

She took a moment to examine her closely and tipped her head to the side, "You look so radiant today, Mint. As though the very sun were within your eyes. Are you in a particularly good mood?"

Plopping the bags down beside her, Mint began opening one of the seed bags. "Do I? I just enjoy helping Ms. Erika! It was sad that the greenhouse got attacked, but look!" She happily looked around her. "Everyone's working together to help bring it back to life! People might be making new friends, too! And it makes me happy~!"

Erika. Voile didn't know her very well, but what she did know, she held the young woman in high regard. In fact, if Erika had made a request of Voile, the Gardevoir was quite sure she'd be more than willing to lend a hand.

"I hope you're right, Mint. It's good to see everyone working for a common goal. It... lightens my heart a little bit. Everyone seems so happy." Then she tapped Mint on the forehead, "Did you know that the sun also makes people happy?" She grinned happily. Even she wasn't immune to it.

"Does it?" said Mint as she giggled slightly. "I didn't know that. I know that some Pokémon like me love the sun..."

She began planting the seeds absentmindedly, not worrying about how dirty she was getting her hands, since she was doing it just a little messily. She was having fun, though!

"It sure does. The sun's a miracle, about as much as every life is. It's a miracle, just like you, and just like me. I'm happy because every day I get to be a witness to all of the things the world has to offer."

Then she turned her attention back onto her own levitating seeds. And little by little, she packed the dirt around them, again without the use of her docile hands she was growing to like so much.

"What kinds of flowers are you planting?"

Mint nodded at what Voile said, but when she asked what kinds of flowers she was planting, she thought for a moment. She didn't actually know the name of the flowers she was planting, but she showed Voile the bag, which had a picture of the flowers on it.

She then took notice of how Voile was levitating the seeds. "Oh, cool, you can levitate stuff, Voile!?"

To say Voile didn't know most flowers when she saw them would have been a falsehood. She wasn't well-acquainted with all types, of course, but there were some she paid special attention to. And she did have a bit of a soft spot for flowers, too. That helped.

"How pretty," she said softly. Then she blinked at Mint, "Oh! Well. Yes. I have some telepathic powers although I haven't used them much since I've been here. I think it's interesting I can still sense everything and do things in a human form rather than just being a Gardevoir."

"Wow! I wonder if I can do any of my abilities as a human!"

And as if this were the time or the place to do such things, Mint outstretched her arm sideways.... and nothing happened. She pouted a little. "Aww, I can't. Oh well! At least that means I can't accidentally hurt someone with them, and that's good!"

Voile blinked. Why... couldn't Mint do anything just yet? "Maybe you just haven't been disciplined well enough yet." The Gardevoir-turned-human frowned in thought and if she'd stayed that way any longer, worry lines would have formed across her forehead.

"We'll work on it together, okay? It's always better when you're sharing the difficulties with someone else. Besides, that's what families do." She extended a hand and lightly fingered the ends of Mint's hair, something of a reassuring motion.

"I've never really used my abilities much before," she admitted sheepishly. "I've rarely needed to." She shrugged and giggled. "I'd love to learn how, though!"

She tilted her head ever so slightly when Voile mentioned families and touched her hair. "Yeah, that is what families do!" As if this were some sort of sudden realization, which was very apparent on her beaming face. And then she blurted out, "You're like the sister I never had, Voile~!"

"We'll work on it together," Voile echoed herself again.

And then she softened. Everything about her did. Every potential tinge of despair, every expression of inching uncertainty, it all faded into something far more pure and heartfelt. Oftentimes she could say she felt touched, but it was a rare thing for her to look it.

For a few moments, she said absolutely nothing. And then she looked down to Mint and drew her thumb over her cheek lightly, cupping her chin into her hand, "That's very kind of you. You... are like a younger sister to me, as well."

Prepare yourself, Voile. At first Mint had accidentally blurted the sentence out, but once she saw that it made Voile look happier, she was glad she said it.

But the moment the Gardevoir-turned-human admitted that Mint was like a younger sister to her, she threw herself forward and hugged the other. "That's great~! We can be sisters, heehee!" Nothing could have prepared Mint for it - she was really happy about it.

She stiffened for just a moment. Voile had no trouble issuing affection toward other people, but the moment it was handed back to her without her expecting it, her blood always ran cold and she grew rigid. Then she carefully lowered her hands and drew them over Mint's shoulders and sighed softly.

"You're so easily amused, Mint," she replied. Her head inclined and she brushed the tip of her nose over Mint's. Silly human noses. They were so cute.

If Voile couldn't tell already, Mint had the most gleeful smile on her face. "Hee~ But it's true!"

And then she withdrew, realizing that they were supposed to be planting seeds for the greenhouse. Even then she would be spending time with her 'sister,' right? She began working on planting.

"I wonder what the greenhouse will look like when all the plants grow~?"

She turned her attention back onto the matter at hand, the darling flowers she was so interested in. More interested in using her hands to the best of their ability, she began to plant the ones she had set aside. The sunflowers. Those would be pretty, right? Yes. She was fairly certain they would be.

"I think it'll be lovely. Lovely and inviting," Voile replied, somewhat absentminded in her answer. "I'm sure I'll spend plenty of time here."
