For Hanukkah

Day 1: A small silver Star of David on a simply chain.

Day 2: And framed photo of her, John and the twins.

Day 3: A mother's ring.

Day 4: A box of frozen Junkyard Dogs. (Tofu.)

Max opened the office door and saw Alec's gift sitting there. She looked at it for half a minute, then picked it up and brought it back inside. If you looked closely, you'd see a small smile. Very carefully, she opened the wrapped paper and the small smile grew wider when she saw the movie.

She'd stop by his place at noon, silently stand in the doorway and watch for a little bit, then slip back outside to be with the kids in Terminal City.

Alec would find a gift under his tree from Max, of a leather jacket.

He opened the package with the same care she showed his. He opened all presents like that. They needed to be treasured and he didn't think the novelty would ever wear off. He loved gifts. Loved them. He loved that some one had thought of him regaurdless of what the gift was.

He smiled as he pulled the jacket out of the box. It wasn't the smirk or the smart ass grin she was used to, but a real smile. He turned to look out the door hopeing to see her, but he was faced with the empty door way was empty. He was pretty sure she'd been there though.
