Mix CD 2012 tracklist

Nov 13, 2012 16:14

It's holiday wishlist time once again, see holiday_wishes and wish_list and as usual, I'm doing a themed mix CD as my outgoing gift.

This year's theme is to honor the end of the Mayan calendar on 12/21/12, and the possibility, slim though it may be, that the world will end.

THE WORLD IS ALWAYS ENDING (2012 Edition)

Tracklist and notes )

mixes, gifts, apocalypse, music

Sadly, that's one of his songs I do not have access to at the moment.

Ah. I have a copy on mp3. Would it be too big to email, d'you think?

Perhaps later. Now that I've set my tracklist, I'll be concentrating on actually creating the cds and mailing them out to the lucky giftees.

Wow, what a great line-up! And you're putting that all on one CD? It must be an MP3 CD, right?

The only thing I'd suggest adding would be VNV Nation's "Honor 2003":

Passive fields. January two thousand and twelve.
A nation that stands alone.
Cold voices, faces pale,
gathered unto their judgement day.
Such pride remains unbroken.
Such words remain unspoken.
Just mothers to stand in vain and cry.
Tears and medals in the rain.
Shall I recall when justice did prevail?

and "Nemesis":

I want justice for the voice that can't be heard
Vindication for every suffering and hurt
Let retribution hold dominion over earth
Because Judgement Day's not coming
Judgement Day's not coming
Soon enough

and perhaps The Cruxshadows's "Deception" - #10 on the playlist at http://www.thecruxshadows.com/

It all fits on one regular CD--A couple of the tracks are under a minute long.

It helps a bit to have a theme so I just don't put the same ten songs on everything, as I might if I went with "songs I really like."

The trick I haven't mastered yet is to have the mix flow smoothly from one song to the nest in a truly professional-sounding way. Then again, many actual record producers haven't mastered that.

There's always next year!

And you might want to watch for mix exchange groups popping up on your friedns list.
