TrufaxI'm in a slightly emo-tardy, cynical mood, so I'll just leave this post with how I find it funny how all people (myself included) assume most of the time anybody finds them interesting/actually cares about them when they're casual acquaintances (incidentally, this's why I'm shite for small talk). There are days when I relate to Dr. House from ( Read more... )

I hate to support your emo habits, but I don't think you finished that sentence. You're supposed to use FEELING verbs!

Anyway, don't feel bad. I can make conversation with pretty much anybody, but I tend to space out and stop listening when I'm not interested. So...yeah.

Oh sorry, were you talking? ;D

Pfft, I think my natural ineloquence and habit of abusing the english language due to complete and utter laziness is far too ingrained to be cured. ;D

I don't feel bad about it, I just find it darkly amusing how egocentric people are in a way, when really 90% of the time others don't care about you, they're just doing it to be polite. Because that's what we've been taught, that's the 'grease' that keeps all the little cogs moving about their own business. Like passing somebody and saying how are you, and having the other person go yes it really is nice weather today. ;)

LOL yeah, working with the public for any space of time whatsoever will really hit that home to you. Things like "have a nice evening" still just pop out of my mouth even when I don't mean to say it at all. I sometimes find myself standing there after even non-awkward conversations thinking, "Why the hell did I just say that?"

Then again, I oftentimes don't want to talk to most people in the first place. I dunno, maybe I'm so emo-tardy on a regular basis, that I don't even notice it anymore?

Mmm, if it's permanent emo-tardiness that keeps one from wanting to make small talk, then I guess I suffer from it too. But I prefer to just think I'm an anti-social misanthropist. ;D Part of that I think stems from the belief that why bother with idle chat when both parties aren't really interested, they're just doing it because it's what they're 'supposed' to do, so why waste the effort?

See, it all comes back to laziness with me. ;D
