I wrote this in one mad dash today, riffing off of a couple of things that have been pestering me lately; what came out was very much not the rom-com I hoped for, but rather a meta-ish piece on fanfiction and celebrity. I don't know if the things I was thinking about are clear at all, but that's posting off-the-cuff for you. I'm working on not ( Read more... )

Oh my GOD.

Bert is my heartbreak character, the parts of him that hurt are the first things he thrusts out into the world.

I've read a lot of shitty Bert fic and this, god, this is not it. It's heartbreaking and at breakneck speed and while it makes me sad, it also makes me smile.

Fuck, this is good.

I think a lot about Bert, and have a hard time writing him, but he seemed perfect for working through this stuff. I think in part for the reason you said, that he pushes all of this heartbreak stuff out there, so he becomes in some ways public property, but is still so clearly guarded. Idk.

Erk. Anyway. Thank you.

Hm, I haven't read any Kief Hillsbery, but I like the sound of him. What with the stream of consciousness. And the meth.

I'm such a weirdo, I know. :D Thanks.

I just really liked that. I'm not sure what to even say about it, but I really enjoyed reading it. There's definitely something big and truth-y in there. It all kind of made me go "yes, yes, that! And that too!".

I had a feeling it would be kind of hard to respond to? I'm having a hard time just responding to comments, so. Hm. Anyway, thank you -- I'm glad you liked. Hopefully at some point I'll be more coherent on the subject.

Wow, this was really, really good. I liked the way it was written too, the whole stream of conciousness thing, and bert broke my heart a little.

Thanks! The stream of consciousness always feels sloppy to me, so I worry about doing it. Bert always breaks my heart a little; he's such a weird, wonky dude. Anyway-- thanks. :D
