about jobs ;
Characters do not have to take jobs in Singularity in order to live, but many will find them necessary to be able to experience many liberties. For this reason, the game offers ways to obtain work credits.
Work credits do not act as money necessarily but as chits which enable characters to freely enjoy higher-level activities. These privileges break down as follows:

ICly, the work credit system is a holdover from that used by the original human survey team. If and when Sacrosanct is fully populated, Hypatia explains, it will have a standard currency in addition to the credits system for official employees.
While credits don't hold much value in the Underworld, many employers will offer them to characters who go between Asphodel and Sacrosanct. Of course, if your character has no need for credits, they can always bargain for some other sort of compensation.
Can I buy, trade, steal or counterfeit work credits? Yep! If your character has the means and know-how, they absolutely may. Whether they get away with it is another thing, but Hypatia is often just as fascinated with renegades as she is by those who follow the rules. See the Requests page for more.
jobs on sacrosanct ;
job ;
description ;
credits ;
clogged ducts ;
*multiple* There are several air vents and maintenance ducts around the station that are clogged with thick webbing. The webbing is semi-sticky and so maintenance drones are having difficulty clearing them. Estimate time of completion: 2 hrs per vent.
1
nest clearing ;
A nest of nidadorum (space-lampreys) have attached themselves to the outside of the station. the use of drones for their removal is inefficient as it has been deemed that to prevent future infestation they should be brought back to Residential zone 15 and studied. The laborer will be granted a space-faring jet pack and suit to complete the job. There will be no replacements in case of failure. Estimate time of completion: 4 hours
2
octopi retrieval ;
15,867 tiny, rare octopi have some how gotten loose in a private pool in the Katayama zone 10. The octopi are too delicate and small to be recollected by maintenance drones, so they have to be collected manually, by hand and returned to the aquarium. These octopi can only be seen at night when they glow in a bright spectrum of neon colors. Workers are provided with small nets, buckets, and coolers. Damaged octopi will result in a reduction of credits. Estimate time of completion: 12 hrs.
2
blood donation ;
*repeatable/multiple* Donating blood for the blood banks requires less power consumption than cloning blood. Paid blood donations have opened up in Residential zones 01, 05, 08, and 13. Residents of the station may donate once per week, although, frequent donation would likely result in death. A warning not exactly presented on the job description. Hypatia expects donors to have some common sense Estimate time of completion: 1 hr.
1 per week
hospital investigation ;
Something is triggering motion and thermal sensors in one of the automated hospitals, but has yet to be caught on security footage. Equipment is experiencing inexplicable battery drain and various malfunctions. Investigate and catch the source on camera for review by Hypatia. Estimate time of completion: Overnight stay (6 hours)
1-2
microchip salvage ;
*multiple* Weather control consoles in several Zones have experienced burnout from recent excessive temperatures and energy expenditure. Extract delicate microchips (those that are still functional) from the burned-out equipment to be re-used in auxiliary systems. Residential Zones contain easily accessible weather control consoles. Wilderness Zone consoles are located near the center of each Zone and can be difficult to access for someone on foot. Estimated time of completion: Variable.
1/2 credit in Residential Zones, 2 credits in Wilderness Zones
beetle collection ;
*team (1-3 persons)* Hypatia has discovered the existence of a rare beetle on the surface of Asphodel. This beetle has the ability to naturally produce 23 terawatts of plasma energy per week, which would make it a very valuable asset to collect for the station. Workers are given a transport shuttle and 72 hours access to the planet, along with the ability to request whatever supplies they might need via comm link back to Sacrosanct to ensure the beetle's safe capture and transport. Estimated time of completion: No more than 72 hours
4-6 depending on condition
residential zone 12 restoration ;
*multiple* DANGER. Nuclear fallout in Residential zone 12! Although the drones are underway with repairs and clean up, workers can speed along the process for compensation with credits. Several locations are in need of a radiation filter to clean the area and welders and technitions are needed to restore damages done to the ship walls, vents, flooring, and environmental controls. Workers who are not immune to radiation will be given radiation suits, although it's recommended not to spend a prolonged period in the fallout area. All tools will be provided. Estimated time of completion: Variable.
2 for radiation filters, 1-3 for repairs
Hypatia's job listings are available on Sacrosanct's official information pages on the station network. She will also occasionally make an announcement on the network requesting help for a special project. These may be solo or team missions and usually involve a reward of a significantly higher sum of credits than normal jobs.

Obviously, these jobs are provided as an OOC reference. Characters need to find and gain the trust of the Underworld before they can seek jobs there. Usually, this can be done by gaining the trust of Lev or hacking into one of his transmissions to find the Underworld's current location.
While many insurgents and black market types in the Underworld will offer credits to station-dwellers, these are counterfeits, and might not always have a clean paper trail. Some mods and illicit material might also have trouble being allowed back onto the station. Again, everything is a trade off. If your character finds a reward is unsatisfactory, they can attempt to bargain for a different one.
taking jobs ;
To signal a character is taking a job, just comment below with the following:
Your Name:Character Name:Character Journal:What Job Are You Taking?How Are You Completing It? (just briefly describe any particular method, as appropriate. doesn't need to be very elaborate.)
When Will It Be Completed By? Please keep in mind that some jobs allow multiple fills, and others require characters work in teams (in which case, list everyone involved on the form). The mods may have questions about your procedure and ask for elaboration or clarification before a job can be confirmed, so please give a few days' lead before carrying it out ICly.
Players do not need to log their jobs, though of course you're more than welcome to. The important thing is just that everyone know OOCly what has been filled and collected. ♥
job suggestions ;
Have an idea for a job? Tell us here. You can suggest a job for your own character to take, or a job you think should go up on the board for anyone to apply for. Keep in mind that this is intended for jobs that Hypatia ostensibly oversees and doles out the credits for, rather than jobs involving one character hiring another. You do not need to list character to character jobs or credit transfers here unless you think they need mod approval for any reason.
To suggest a job, just comment below with the following:
Your Name:Character Name | Character Journal: (please list one of your characters even if you're making a general suggestion, just because we may not recognize the other nickname at first glance)
General Job Board or Personal? (is this job for your character or for anyone to apply for)
What Kind of Job Is It? (briefly describe! Is it a one-time job, something recurring, etc.)
How Many Credits Will It Pay? (keep in mind that most jobs are only worth 1 or 2 credits at a time)
Again, players are not required to log any jobs they perform, although you're more than welcome to if you'd like.
