When washing goes south...

It is interesting to see just how often I actually go into the laundry in the evening, which is not often at all. I was cooking dinner when Munchkin needed to head to his room, he came screaming back up the hallway with an interesting sound of water, here is me wondering if I remembered to put the lid down on the washing machine and realising that

So, what actually happened?

I don't believe I forgot to include that bit the outlet hose had come unhooked from the sink and as there was a large load in there and it had gone through the empty cycle twice there was a lot of water emptying onto the floor.

Wish I could figure that one out, but it continous to elude me.
