Got in an outrigger canoe for the first time in a little under a year yesterday.  Made a few observations-
  • The water is still too darn cold
  • I've apparently gotten...curvier...and the foot and a half wide boat (possibly a bit more, possibly a bit less.  I was eyeballing) is a bit snug around the hips, at least more so than before.

Hips now qualify you to be in a western modern kayak. Hips are the steering and balance. Brittania does not rule the waves: women's hips do.

I seriously assumed that paddles were for steering, and that maybe you paddle less on one side to turn.
