Update for Public Consumption

Work: I estimate that the next update will be sometime around the end of next week. January was custom orders galore, lots of repair orders (for local people; I've been getting a lot of referrals through Terra Firma & Pikesville Jewelers for tricky repairs on vintage jewelry. Some true head-scratchers in the bunch, but I think of it like a ( Read more... )

Is the third Curse Workers book out? I'm so behind in books. (And a bit bitter that they changed the cover style.)

I'm so iffy on Holly Black. I know so many people who love her work, but I find it fairly generic. (And annoyingly romanticized, but that's a different quibble.) I like the worlds she builds, but the characters usually annoy or bore me.

I think the third is due out next month.

Yeah, in general, I prefer her worldbuilding to her characters. There have been characters that I really liked, but in general, I tend to prefer optimistic characters, and her work tends to the specific type of dystopian where it's hard for me to find someone to really embrace.

I *love* the Stila Convertible Colors, though I use Petunia most of the time because it looks natural and pretty on everyone. If you find that you need something more longlasting for performance stuff, then check out Make Up Forever's HD blushes, because those are amazing. I'm just in the process of placing an order with NARS because I need two of their artist palettes, and I'm realizing that I need to own a lot more of their stuff. Consistent quality and the colors are to die for!

The only Lipstick Queen lipstick that I've truly liked and used a lot is Medieval. Otherwise, I prefer the consistency and color payoff of other brands for the money.

Part of the reason I am eager to try LQ is because of their range of sheers. I have reds and berries in full coverage for stage, but I would feel weird wearing full coverage during the day-- I am a tinted balm kinda gal. Baby steps!

And I already see the wing earrings I want! When will they be available for purchase?

Some in that batch are commissions, and some are hairsticks. What will be available should go up towards the end of next week.

Ooo, hairsticks! Cool.

Also, you now have me incredibly curious about Lipstick Queen (Medieval). I cannot find it anywhere, it's sold out online.

Thanks for the blush review, it sounds like it would work for me too if I decide to try something other than Orgasm.

I just read this book of short stories I think you might like (got it at the Balt Co Library):

Sarah Monette: Somewhere Beneath Those Waves

Extra bonus is that a lot of the pieces were inspired by pieces of jewelry created by a friend of hers. I want to check out more of her work.
