The first time I read that line - you'll remember - I just went GUH. It's such a simple phrase, and yet. AND YET.
and this:
“God, I hope this works,” he says quietly, to nobody in particular (but to John specifically), and steps through, out of the past and into his (temporary) future.
is a great last line. LOVE your use of the parantheses. It's just a well written journey, sad and yet hopeful. You give 'Hologram McKay' a bigger voice, which makes the outcome so much harder to take, really. You make me think about the fact that the 'alternate reality' isn't really alternate and guh. You make me sympathise, which, as a writer, I'm sure you'll be glad to hear.
Also? IT WAS A 'TO BE CONTINUED' EPISODE? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING SIGRID?

YES IT WAS A 'TO BE CONTINUED' EPISODE. CLEARLY I AM SADISTIC. OR POSSIBLY I JUST WANT TO SHARE THE LOVE. EITHER WAY. DON'T YOU FEEL LIKE A HAPPIER PERSON FOR HAVING SEEN IT???
