Hiddleston Henry V thoughts

I wasn't particularly caught up in it, although it did send me to find the Branagh version's soundtrack on Spotify and listen to it. And I did fall completely in love with the French princess's lady in waiting Alice.

I'm waiting to see it -- I have it, all nicely shrink-wrapped from amazon. But nothing, I fear, will ever surpass the Branagh version ... which just inspired me to write an Avengers/Henry V crossover. Yes, that's right ... ;-) (Time travel is involved...)

Hah, if you had seen it I'd ask if you were inspired by the brief scenes of Henry V shooting a bow (for no reason at all, except that it looks good, as far as I can tell.) Whee!

The Branagh version is imbedded pretty deeply in my consciousness. We watched it in a class taught by a teacher who was very important to me, it was my first Branagh experience, and it made a deep mark on me.

I'd seen the Branagh after the Sir Laurence Olivier version, and my goodness -- the difference. I also saw one with Ian Glen (who currently plays Ser Jonah, the Khaleesi's loyal knight, on Game of Thrones) that was pretty stunning, on the stage in Stratford-upon-Avon. But Branagh holds the (hollow) crown in my mind, and I will always regret that we moved to London just after he and the Royal Shakespeare Company parted ways.
