I'm guessing that even if men live shorter lives, they don't (whether for medical or sociological reasons) cost the insurer so much in health care.

I don't think this is an excuse. Logical doesn't equal moral.

I'd take a ticket except it wants a US five-digit zip code and I'm a New Zealander. I don't know if there's significant gender discrimination in New Zealand medical insurance, but as my medical insurance is about US$30 per month I'm not overly stressed about it....

4746. Grrr. Not that they ever want to cover most of my problems anyway, given that I have like five pre-existing conditions. My employer somehow makes them, for which I am devoutly grateful.
