Vaishnodevi was the last destination of our trip before we left Jammu. We reached Katara, the base camp for Vaishnodevi on 27th February at around 7:00 PM. We decided to start the trek towards Vaishnodevi at night at around 12:00 AM.

In a way, I think it was good that the journey was difficult because the darshan made up in more ways than one for all that physical exertion. ALso, I had more trouble trekking down from Vaishnodevi than while going towards Vaishnodevi.
If you go to Vaishnodevi, be sure to check the weather there,dress warm and I recommend trekking at night if you want to avoid the crowd. I hope you get to go there. :)

I can see why you trekked on, the sites are amazing. From reading your travelogue, I can tell that much of this trip was very spiritual.

BTW, there are lots of other options besides walking to go to Vaishnodevi. One can hire ponies, go by helicopter or hire six-seater autorickshaws. But only the ponies go right up till Vaishnodevi, for the other two options, you still have to walk a little bit. Trekking was my personal choice.
