I can't wait to read this. I have to, unfortunately, but I don't want to, damn it. I can sneak in little things at work, but this is too big for that. Plus, I want to savor it.

I will read it. It's at the top of my to read list. I'm thinking about printing it out and taking it on vacation with me.

I'm trying to be good and work at work, even though I've seen my boss for all of fifteen minutes this week, our office manager won't leave her house, and the website work I'm supposed to be doing is boring me to tears.

If I start reading a long story, though, that'd be admitting that I'm not going to work. Ditto with writing.

So instead I futz about on-line and tell myself that as soon as I finish this I will get right back to uploading pdfs of board minutes. Yup. That's what I'll do.

Oh, wow. What a wonderful story. Thank you so much for the fantastic read! You did a beautiful job keeping so many balls in the air -- peril and love and jealousy and everyone so wonderfully themselves -- note-perfect characterization and so many moments that made my throat get tight:
