I'm a sloppy packrat (which means I have lots of stuff saved, but I rarely remember from where), and I'm digging though some saved posts today, and I find this:

It was interesting talking at to fans who at least claim to have ( Read more... )

When you hear stuff like this from fans who supposedly have "inside info" -- whatever *that* means -- do you really buy it?

Occasionally. I have friends who work in Hollywood, even a few that write for TV. But usually? Nope.

Even with people who work in Hollywood, unless they actually work on the set, or with TPTB, wouldn't it still just be rumor?

What exactly are you asking -- would I place money on the odds of them being correct? Would I write an article for a magazine based on it?

Or, would I think it was interesting, and consider the *possibility*, which is what I do. It's not like I make life-changing decisions based on it.

Of course. But some rumors are better grounded than others. Writers talk to each other; most directors work on multiple shows during the season, etc.

It's so sad that I placed that as Sentinel-related gossip before getting to your comment about it :)

I immediately thought of The Sentinel although that was a fandom I mostly watched from the sidelines. *g* My first reaction when I saw Cassie in canon was that someone must have had a homophobic freak-out because she was a female version of Blair and I wondered what having two almost identical characters was supposed to achieve other than replacing the male love interest with a female one. Never saw any of the discussions but if I know fandom at all, it probably got quite heated.
